About Cyprus
The island of Cyprus has attracted people throughout the ages -its beauty and sunshine are legendary, but there are many other reasons for choosing to live here. Of course the climate is wonderful -sunshine all the year round, a short, mild winter season and hot, dry summers -but the whole way of life is also very appealing. The Cypriots have a reputation for friendliness and honesty, which in other parts of the world is becoming an increasingly rare thing. Here the crime rate is very low while the standard of living is high. It is a healthy place to live and the medical services are first class. English is widely spoken and the island is a busy and important offshore business center for companies from many countries while other languages like German and Russian are increasingly spoken.
Cyprus is situated in an ideal position for travel and communications worldwide. Both the air transports and telecommunications are of the highest standard, as is the banking system as well. There are many historic sights and ancient villages to explore. Add to this the majestic mountains, which are snow covered and provide good skiing in the winter and picturesque walks in the summer, and the fine sandy beaches and clear sparkling sea where swimming is possible for much of the year, and the choice is clear.
About Paphos
In ancient times it was the capital of Cyprus and lies in an area of incredible scenic beauty and is an ideal base for a home in Cyprus. It is the charming and historic town of Paphos, which, with its picturesque harbor and innumerable ancient sites, has become the most popular resort in Cyprus. The town is expanding rapidly and attracts many visitors throughout the year, so the choice of entertainment and restaurants is endless. Shopping and sports facilities are excellent and the island's first two full-size golf courses operate in the Paphos area. The area contains many of the archaeological treasures of Cyprus that are included in the official UNESCO World Cultural Heritage list. The spectacular coastline around Paphos is unparallel and the whole area is in a wonderful position for exploring the unspoiled Akamas peninsula and Troodos Mountains.
